Juma
Juma is an entirely stilt-built hotel (up to 15m high) that maintains the rustic side of the riverine culture but with comfort and nice décor featuring furniture and artefacts from local artisans. The lodge has electric and solar power. Wi-Fi only works at the reception, and they do not intend to extend it to the rooms and restaurant, as the idea is to disconnect from the internet. I transferred from Amazon Turtle to Juma by boat on a pleasant journey of about 40 minutes. The outbound transfer takes about 4 hours to Juma Opera and then another 40 minutes to the airport.
The lodge is in a more secluded area, where you’ll rarely see boats passing by. The excursions are done on different trails, ensuring that small groups never cross paths.
All with hot water powered by solar energy, a minibar, ceiling fan, and screen door separating the room from the balcony, which can face the river or the forest. The bungalows are all made of wood and covered with straw. There are 5 categories of bungalows:
- Forest view – closest to the reception and restaurant, 41m².
- River view – 32m², bungalows 7 to 9 are near the restaurant, the others are further away.
- Family bungalows with 55m², river view, 1 king-size bed and 2 single beds, air conditioning.
- Panoramic with 96m², river view, king-size bed, air conditioning, deck with lounge chairs, and outdoor shower.
- Juma suite with 165m², more isolated and far from reception and restaurant, river view, king-size bed, sofa, a bath with a whirlpool, air conditioning, and full glass front, large deck with chairs and loungers.
Juma Lodge follows the proposal of combining local experience with comfort, rustic and charming, in an isolated area where it is rare to see other boats circulating with guides from the region who have a great knowledge of the area.
